@Misosoppa @Dec_vs_Japan_ Thatās a feature not a bug. Moving from specialized symbols (e.g. kanji) to more universal symbols (e.g. hiragana) is similar to using universal objects (movable type/letterpress) instead of specialized objects (e.g. hand-copied illuminated manuscripts). Also, making it easierā¦

@Dec_vs_Japan_ Seems fair to me, itās not my fault Japan has four sets of tens of thousands of characters (incl romaji) that symbolize different things in different contexts. The Phoenicians more-or-less solved this problem about 3,600 years ago.

I catch myself about to say āitās hard to explain,ā or āitās complicated,ā sometimes. Dude. Give it a shot. Iāve found that itās funny if I just try and it usually reveals itās not actually that complicated or difficult. š

@jonclemonsjp The train museum is nice, and the park next to it. Also an aquarium there, I think. That said, just walking by the river and/or the nearby shopping arcades is great, too.

I used to work in public (and private) schools in Japan, and can attest: you can work with children all day in an āeducational environmentā and still be far removed from them.

@reasonisfun @TCSparents Here's a thought: Over-attentive parenting is coercive parenting. The more children you have, the less coercive you *can* be (well, unless you hire a bunch of nannys and/or create nanny bots to fill in for you). "Attention" is overrated. It almost has a military vibe to it. Notā¦

@DKedmey 4. Abstractions are created/re-created each time they are accessed. 5. No abstraction is ever exactly the same.

Wow, refactoring/updating. It's going to be able to refactor a whole app that was written in classes to components in functions in seconds, isn't it? Need to try this for Ruby, too.

@reasonisfun @SubsetTopology Interesting! I'm currently reading "The Courage to be Disliked," and early on there's a chapter titled "Trauma doesn't exist". Not sure if I agree entirely, but the point is that trauma is *created*āand it's about problem avoidance, not solving. Maybe suffering is the same?

@rveulacia @reasonisfun šThe most interesting thing to me about putting minds in boxes is that minds canāt end at boxes. Iām reminded of King Louisā talking horse parable, too. It was like an beautiful chess match to hear David avoid referring to this as ācreativityā when pressed.

I gave up on manually looking up kanji (by particle, relation, deconstruction, text from photo), and after several years of mulling, finally bought a Paperwhite. Despite the initially frustrating lag, which Iām already used to now? itās leaps and bounds easier! š¤©
